Yokota Daruma wash-away dot grid sashiko fabric - White, Gray, Navy Blue or Mustard Yellow

$22.00

This listing is for 1 wash-away grid patterned sashiko fabric cloth that is 19.5 inch x 42.5 inch (50 cm x 108 cm) in size. The fabric is available in a white, gray, mustard yellow or navy blue color. Please choose the color and number of items you would like to purchase using the pull-down menus.

This 100% cotton fabric was created in Japan by Yokota Daruma for sashiko. English instructions for a small project and how to get started with sashiko are included. The instructions include drawn diagrams.

These cloths have a pre-printed dot - grid pattern on one side of the cloth. The grid pattern was especially created for hitomezashi (one stitch sashiko) but it can also be used to create many other traditional patterns such as: tatemimasu, kumiko lattice, kawari asanoha, dan tsunagi linked steps, yabane arrow feather, jujitsunagi linked crosses, hagaki and many more. After finishing your sashiko, the cloth can be used to create a quilt block, towel, pillow cover or placemat.

The pattern washes out of the cloth with water. This is a perfect project for beginner sashiko artists. I find that these samplers are also wonderful for traveling with as they are small and do not require you to pack a large amount of supplies. The marks are also easily seen (for less than perfect lighting) and will not rub off when the cloth is folded away.

The 100% cotton fabric is a lightweight gauze fabric with a slightly open weave. You can see the open weave of the fabric in Photo 5 where my hand can be seen behind the fabric.

Please refer to the photos with the Crayola brand crayons for the most accurate representation of the colors available. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photos for color comparison. You may select the color you would like using the pull-down menu.

There are 3 colors available. Please choose the color you would like using the pull down menu.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:
Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.

Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.

This product was made in Japan.
