This listing is for one pre-printed, sashiko sampler in a deep red, ocher-brown, navy or black color. Each cloth can be used to create 5 coasters, each with a different sashiko design. The pattern washes out of the cloth with water. Please use the pull-down box to select the color that you would like to purchase.
Each of these coaster sets has patterns that are printed with water soluble ink over Olympus' Tsumugi Kofu cotton. This gorgeous fabric is created in a similar manner to that of silk tsumugi fabrics. The warp threads of the fabrics are black while the weft threads are either red, yellow, blue or black. The different colored warp and weft threads provide the fabric with a wonderful depth of color that changes depending on the light source. The light to medium weight cotton has natural slubbing which gives the fabric a wonderful texture. The fabric has a subtle sheen and soft, woven texture. These tsumugi cottons are absolutely gorgeous!
This sampler cloth can be used to create five, 4 inch x 4 inch (10 cm x 10 cm) coasters. The cloth can also be used to create quilt squares or boro - type patches.
The entire cloth measures about 26.5 inches long x 6 inches wide ( 67.31 cm x 15.2 cm). The printed portion of each coaster measures about 3 1/8 inches x 3 1/8 inches (8cm x 8cm) in size. All the sashiko patterns can be seen in the last photo. The coasters can be finished by hemming the sides. English instructions are included for completing the coasters by either hemming the un-finished edges or by adding a back to the coaster. * The backing fabric is not supplied in this sampler. You must provide your own backing fabric if you wish to finish the coasters in this way. *
Please refer to the photos with the Crayola brand crayons for the most accurate representation of the color. Crayola crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.
To remove markings:
*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.
