Wagara sashiko pre-printed wash-away panel - traditonal designs

This listing is for one pre-printed sashiko cloth in a navy or black color. Please note that the red color is no longer available. The pattern washes out of the cloth with water. Please use the pull-down box to select the color panel you would like to purchase.

This cloth was created by Hitomi Fujita for QH Textiles and is made in Japan. It is "sashiko panel part 6" and it features traditional sashiko designs, kanji characters, dragonflies, bamboo, noshi ribbon and crests.

The entire cloth measures about 39.3 inches tall x 43.3 inches wide ( 100 cm tall x 110 cm wide).
The cloth has the following printed portions:

-9 larger squares that have traditional sashiko designs and crests. Each of these squares measures about 10 x 10 inches (25 x 25 cm).
-12 smaller squares that have traditional sashiko designs and kanji characters. Each of these squares measures about 3.5 x 3.5 inches (9 x 9 cm)
-1 small rectangle that has temari balls with traditional sashiko designs. This rectangle measures about 12 x 7 inches (30.5 x 17.8 cm)
-1 large rectangle that features a noshi ribbon design. This rectangle measures about 23 x 10 inches (58.4 x 25 cm)
-1 rectangle that features bamboo and dragonflies. This rectangle measures about 17 x 10 inches (43 x 25 cm).

The 100% cotton fabric is of a medium weight. It has a much heavier weight and tighter weave than the smaller "hana-fukin" samplers that I offer. The fabric has a slightly crisp drape and a texture that is similar to a lighter weight canvas material. The fabric also has some "slubbing" that gives the cloth a nice texture and look. This cloth would be perfect for a noren, curtain, table runner, cushion cover or hanging display piece. Each square can be used separately to create a quilt or a series of smaller items.

Please refer to the last 3 photos for the most accurate representation of the colors available. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photos for a color comparison. The Navy color (photo 8) is a very dark, almost black, navy. You may select the color you would like using the pull-down menu.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:

*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.

Renee is a wonderful Etsy vendor. Her shop has lots to choose from, super quick delivery and very fast communication. She was very helpful when asked for suggestions not only giving an easy answer but including all options. I absolutely love working with the red cloth with is a beautiful weight/weave. Perfect transaction in every way. And Renee dropped a "hint" that she also has samplers in Gray! If you haven't tried sashiko but love working with cloth and thread, this is a very relaxing yet satisfying "craft". Thanks Renee!
