Red poinsettia Kanzashi Christmas or holiday hairband headband

*Tsumami kanzashi translates to "folded fabric hair ornament". In this Japanese technique, small squares of fabric are folded to create beautiful accessories. I use vintage kimono fabrics to create these pieces, giving the fabric a new use and new life when it may have been unable to be used for kimono or larger accessories. I personally starch, cut and fold all the silk used for my kanzashi. *

This beautiful hair band would make a wonderful accessory for any holiday celebration. The poinsettia has long been a Christmas tradition. It is also the December birth flower. This poinsettia was made from 10 pieces of deep red silk and 4 pieces of green silk. The center was created out of a yellow colored, faux jewel.

The flower is made in the tradition of Tsumami kanzashi but is also sewn together making this clip less prone to damage. The silk petals are glued onto felt and then glued onto the hairband.

A flexible, metal band is covered with vintage, deep red kimono silk to create the headband. The fabric is sewn onto the metal band. The interior metal band is very flexible, making this head band very comfortable to wear. It is also difficult to break, unlike plastic headbands.

The headband will fit children (about 6yrs and older) and adults.

About 15 inches (38.1cm) end to end
