*measurement increments on rulers in the pictures are in INCHES* The fabric was photographed over a surface with black grids that are 1x1 inch (2.5 x 2.5 cm) square. These black squares are not on the fabric.
This is a beautiful Harwood Steiger double panel! The fabric, which was hand printed in Tubac, AZ features beautiful teal colored flowers over a light blue-aqua colored background.
Harwood Steiger fabrics are highly collectible and can be used for apparel, quilting or home accessories. Steiger created these prints from the late 1950's through the 1980's. These dress prints were made of a poly/cotton permanent press fabric and were created for shift dresses. The double panel for sale is still crisp and I do not believe it was ever washed. It has been stored folded for many years and I have not tried to iron it.
This floral print has teal flowers. Steiger was known for his desert floral designs. He also created abstract, tropical and Aztec design. I am unsure of the flower depicted in this print but it almost looks like a California rose poppy or primrose. The fabric background is NOT white but a very pale shade of blue-aqua. Please refer to the last photos for the best representation of the color. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison. This is a beautiful piece of vintage fabric with virtually no flaws. The fabric is a light weight, smooth and has a subtle sheen.
The entire piece of fabric measures 2 yards long (183cm) x 45.5 inches wide (115.6cm). The printed area of each flower section is about 23 inches tall (58.4cm) by 11 inches wide (28cm). The flowers run perpendicular to the selvage (parallel to the cut edges) so that there is one floral panel per yard of fabric. The floral print starts 8.5 inches (21.6cm) from the top selvage and ends 15 inches (38cm) from the bottom selvage.
There are a few condition issues with this panel. Please read about them below:
-There is a small dirt smudge, about the size of a pencil eraser, about 1 inch (2.5cm) from the top selvage, directly above one of the floral panels. I did not try to wash the smudge off.
-There is a flaw in the fabric. This flaw is shown in the last photo and is 4 inches (10cm) from the selvage below a floral print. It almost looks like a pull in the fabric but I believe it was created when the fabric was woven.
-The fabric used to create these panels appears to be made from the end of the bolt therefore there is a line of pinholes and some dirt 2 inches (5cm) from the end of the yardage. I did not include these extra 2 inches of fabric in the 2 yard measurement therefore you will actually be receiving 2 yards + 2 inches of fabric however the last 2 inches are flawed.
*Shipping cost overages greater than $1.00 will be refunded*
I believe that the pictures show a good representation of the fabric colors however, please remember that colors may look different on your monitor. This is a vintage fabric so there may be small blemishes or marks in addition to those noted in the description.
*I am always willing to provide more information or pictures regarding my trims or using/sewing these trims. Please do not hesitate to send me a convo if you have any questions.*
