This listing is for one pre-printed sashiko sampler cloth in an ecru, golden brown tsumugi, putty brown tsumugi, navy tsumugi or red tsumugi color. The pattern washes out of the cloth with water. Please use the pull-down box to select the color panel you would like to purchase.
This cloth was created by Olympus Japan for BeBe Bold of Australia. The beautiful dragonfly pattern is printed with water soluble ink over Olympus' Tsumugi Kofu cotton OR their Ecru colored sashiko fabric.
Olympus' tsumugi is a gorgeous fabric that is created in a similar manner to that of silk tsumugi fabrics. The warp threads of the fabrics are black while the weft threads are either gold-brown, taupe, red or navy color creating a golden brown, putty brown, deep red or deep navy indigo cotton. The light to medium weight cotton has natural slubbing giving the fabric a wonderful texture. The fabric has a subtle sheen and soft, woven texture. The different colored warp and weft threads provide the fabric with a wonderful depth of color that changes depending on the light source. These tsumugi cottons are absolutely gorgeous!
The ecru colored cotton is the same fabric that is used for Olympus Japan's popular dot grid sashiko fabric that is seen here:
This a medium weight fabric that has little to no sheen and a slightly stiff drape. The weave and thickness of the fabric make it perfect for sashiko.
The entire cloth measures about 25.5 inches long x 4.5 inches wide (65 cm long x 11 cm wide).
This cloth would be the perfect addition to a quilt, table runner or hanging display piece.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.
To remove markings:
*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.
