This listing is for one pre-printed sashiko sampler panel in a golden brown, teal or red color. The pattern washes out of the cloth with water. Please use the pull-down box to select the color panel you would like to purchase.
This panel was created by Olympus Japan for BeBe Bold of Australia. The panel features traditional designs, floral crests and dragonflies printed with water soluble ink over Olympus' Tsumugi Kofu
Olympus' tsumugi is a gorgeous fabric that is created in a similar manner to that of silk tsumugi fabrics. The warp threads of the fabrics are black while the weft threads are either gold-brown, grayish-green or red creating a golden brown, teal or deep red hued fabric. The light to medium weight cotton has natural slubbing giving the fabric a wonderful texture. The fabric has a subtle sheen and soft, woven texture. The different colored warp and weft threads provide the fabric with a wonderful depth of color that changes depending on the light source. These tsumugi cottons are absolutely gorgeous!
The entire cloth measures about 35.5 inches tall x 24.5 inches wide (90 cm tall x 62 cm wide).
The cloth has the following printed portions:
-8 larger squares that have traditional geometric designs. Each of these squares measures about 8.5 x 8.75 inches (21.6 cm x 22.2 cm).
-2 smaller squares that have traditional geometric designs. Each of these squares measures about 4.5 inches x 4.5 inches (11.4 cm x 11.4 cm)
-10 floral, dragonfly and crest designs. The designs are about 4 inches to 4.5 inches (10.2 cm to 11.4 cm) at their widest point.
This cloth would be perfect for a noren, curtain, table runner, cushion cover or hanging display piece. Each square can be used separately to create a quilt or a series of smaller items.
Please refer to the last 3 photos for the most accurate representation of the colors available. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photos for a color comparison. You may select the color you would like using the pull-down menu.

Photo 8: Teal Tsumugi
Photo 9: Deep red tsumugi. This color matches the color of the red-violet colored Crayola brand crayon very closely.
All fabrics are 100% cotton and are made in Japan.
Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.
To remove markings:
*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.
