NEW QH Textiles sashiko slide clasp purse kit with blue yarn dyed cotton

$32.99

This listing is for one sashiko slide clasp purse kit with a blue - gray hued cloth. There are two kits available, a full kit and a half kit. Please select the number and type of kits you would like to purchase using the pull-down menus.

This purse was designed by Hitomi Fujita for QH Textiles. It was made in Japan and features a lovely, traditional shippo pattern over yarn dyed, 100% cotton fabric. The pattern and the marks are printed using water-soluble ink and can be washed away after the bag is made. This gorgeous fabric is reminiscent of silk tsumugi fabrics where the yarn is dyed before the cloth is woven. This is also called "shot fabric". The warp threads of the fabrics are black while the weft threads are a slate blue color. The different colored warp and weft threads provide the fabric with a wonderful depth of color that changes depending on the light source. The lightweight cotton has natural slubbing giving the fabric a wonderful texture. The fabric has a subtle sheen and soft, woven texture.

The entire cloth measures about 13 3/4 inches x 25 5/8 inches (35cm x 45 cm) and the finished size of the purse is about 6 7/8 inches (17.5 cm) wide x 7 1/2 inches (18.5 cm) high x 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) deep.

This purse is available in a full OR a half kit.

The full kit contains:
Instructions
pre-printed cloth printed using water-soluble ink
sashiko needle (in plastic case)
magnetic slide clasp in mat silver hue
plastic form for making slide clasp cover
waxed cotton cord * the color of this cord varies from kit to kit
Daruma 20/4 sashiko thread - one 40m card in a light gray #217 hue and a bundle in a red hue.

The half kit contains:
Instructions
pre-printed cloth printed using water-soluble ink
magnetic slide clasp in mat silver hue
plastic form for making slide clasp cover
waxed cotton cord * the color of this cord varies from kit to kit

To complete the project you will need glue, lining fabric, stuffing (for loop end), pliers and either machine or hand sewing supplies.

This is the same slide purse clasp that is available here:

Please refer to photo with the crayons for the most accurate representation of the cloth color. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison. This fabric is a blue-gray hue and matches the color of the "Cadet Blue" hued Crayola crayon very closely. This fabric can also have a slight green undertone in some light sources.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:

*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.
