Tulip Sashiko World sashiko sampler kit - Hawaii "Plumaria" kit

$20.00

This listing is for one sashiko kit that contains a white cloth that is pre-printed with a beautiful plumaria flower design, a sashiko needle and pale yellow, yellow-orange, yellow - green and sky blue hued sashiko thread. All items included in the kit were made in Japan. The finished size of the sampler measures 13.4 inches x 13.4 inches (34 cm x 34 cm).

The pre-printed pattern washes out of the cloth with water. This is a perfect project for beginner sashiko artists. I find that these samplers are also wonderful for traveling with as they are small and do not require you to pack a large amount of supplies. The marks are also easily seen (for less than perfect lighting) and will not rub off when the cloth is folded away.

The kit contains:
1 - white colored 100% cotton cloth that is pre-printed with a wash-away plumaria flower design
1 - Tulip brand sashiko needle - 42.9mm long x .91mm thick, Nickel-plated steel.
1 - bundle each of butter yellow, yellow-orange, yellow-green and sky blue hued 100% cotton sashiko thread.

"Hana-Fukin" translates to "kitchen towel" however this sampler can also be used to create a quilt block, small coaster/placemat or pillow.

The entire cloth measures about 27.25 inches long x 13 inches wide (69.2 cm long x 33 cm wide). The printed portion of the cloth measures about 12 inch x 12 inch (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) in size. The printed portion can be seen in the 3rd photo. Traditionally the cloth is folded in half and the stitching is done though 2 layers of fabric.

The 100% cotton fabric is lightweight with a slightly open weave. Please refer to the photos with the crayons for the most accurate representation of the thread and cloth color. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison and are not included in the listing.

This sampler comes with an instruction sheet that is in English only.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:
Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.

Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.

This product was made in Japan.
