Printed instructions for Modern Japanese Rice Pouch Komebukuro by kzstevens

$8.00

This listing is for one printed instruction sheet for creating your own Modern Japanese Rice Pouch (Komebukuro). This pattern was created by Karen Stevens.

This pattern comes with a printed, paper sheet that has both written instructions and a diagram explaining how to create a rice pouch. This pattern is suitable for beginners but is also a fun project for the more experienced. It is a wonderful way to use of small scraps of fabric and the bag can easily be created in a larger or smaller size if desired. The project stitches up very quickly.

The last three photos show rice pouches that I created using this pattern. These are not available for purchase but are shown as an example of what can be created using this pattern.

Difficulty level: Beginner

Approximate finished dimensions:

6" square x 7" tall [15.25 x 17.75 cm]

A modern take on the Japanese Komebukuro, a traditional pouch used in Japan to carry rice offerings to the temple during religious ceremonies, or to hold gifts destined for a close friend or relative. Komebukuro bags were hand sewn in a patchwork style using a mix of whatever fabrics were on hand, and closed with a cotton drawstring cord. This is a perfect project to use up all those extra scraps of fabric and add your own unique style. You can be as simple or complex as you’d like. And it is fully reversible! The perfect size to carry around your latest knitting project, or use it as a lunch tote!

The 2nd photo shows the fabric requirements for the creating your own rice pouch.
