This listing is for one sewing kit created by Hiro Co. Japan Each beautiful wood box contains 2 colors of sewing thread on wooden spools, a pin cushion, 2 needles, a magnet and miniature kuroha thread snips. All these item fit inside the wooden box for safe keeping.
Four boxes boxes are available: Asanoha hemp leaf etched, Seigaiha wave etched, Black lacquer and Red lacquer. Please select the box you would like using the pull-down menu.
All the boxes contain the following items.
*2 colors of sewing thread on wooden spools that fit perfectly in the box
*An adorable and tiny pin cushion (1cm diameter) made of vintage shibori-dyed silk. Colors of the pin cushion will vary. Please note that the pin cushion CAN NOT be removed from the box so it will not be lost.
*2 easy-thread sewing needles. These wonderful needles allow the thread to pass through the needle hole by simply putting a thread in the groove on the needle and pushing it. This means that threading is easy and fast! The two needles come with a clear plastic holder where they can be stored.
*A plum-shaped magnet that holds a tiny kuroha (thread snips) or can also be used to store your needles.
*A teeny tiny kuroha. These are the smallest stainless steel scissors in Japan with a total length of 45 mm. They are very sharp. This kuroha is SO tiny. It works wonderfully but it may be difficult for some individuals to hold and use due to it's small size. The kuroha is meant to be held against your palm and the thumb and pointer finger are used to press the blades together. You thumb and pointer finger will be close to the pointy end of the kuroha.
The Asanoha and Seigaiha etched boxes are made of untreated Paulownia wood. The wood is untreated and will patina nicely over time.
The lacquered boxes are also made of Paulownia wood but they have a luxurious lacquer finish. This is Yamanaka-nuri and it is available in two paint colors, vermilion and black. It's soft to the touch and will last for decades.
