Olympus Japan hitomezashi sashiko pre-printed wash-away sampler kit - coaster kit on off-white cotton

Sorry, this item has sold.

This listing is for one pre-printed, sashiko sampler kit in an ivory, off white color. Each cloth can be used to create 5 coasters, each with a different hitomezashi sashiko design. The pattern washes out of the cloth with water.

These are complete kits with nearly all that you need to complete the sampler. Each kit contains:
- pre-printed washaway sampler cloth in ivory, off - white color (Olympus sashiko nuno fabric - 4500-101)
- 1 Olympus brand sashiko needle
- 2 bundles of Olympus brand sashiko thread in the following colors: #6 Yellow-Green, #9 Sky Blue, #15 Red, #19 Purple and #22 Orange

*You will need to have scissors, hand sewing thread and sewing needle to finish creating the coasters. These items are not included in the kit*

The cloth used to make this sampler is thicker than the gauzy hana-fukin fabric. It has a slightly crisp drape and is light to medium weight with a smooth, woven texture.

This sampler cloth can be used to create five, 4 inch x 4 inch (10 cm x 10 cm) coasters. The cloth can also be used to create quilt squares, komebukuro (rice bag) pouches or boro - type patches.

The entire cloth measures about 26.5 inches long x 6 inches wide ( 67.31 cm x 15.2 cm). The printed portion of each coaster measures about 3 1/8 inches x 3 1/8 inches (7.9 cm x 7.9 cm). A 4 inch x 4 inch (10cm x 10cm) sized coaster can be created by hemming the sides. NO BACKING fabric is provided with this kit so the stitching will be visible on the backside of the coaster after hemming. All instructions are in Japanese however diagrams are also included.

Please refer to the photo with the Crayola brand crayons for the most accurate representation of the color. Crayola crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:

*Do not iron or get the cloth wet until the stitching is completed.
*Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
*Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.

This kit is made in Japan.

Please note that if you order a large number of thread or small items the shipping weight may be overestimated. Be assured that I always refund shipping cost overages of $1.00 or more. You may also wish to contact me so that I can set up a special order for you, which will have the accurate combined shipping costs. I do not charge handling or packaging fees.
