Yokota Daruma wash-away Asagao Morning Glory Sashiko sampler cloth in Navy Blue or White

This listing is for 1 sashiko sampler cloth that features a morning glory (asagao) pattern. The pattern is printed in water soluble ink that can be washed away after the sampler is completed. The sampler is available in either a white or navy blue color. Please choose the color and number of items you would like to purchase using the pull-down menus.

*This listing is for the sampler cloth only. Needles, thread and other supplies need to be purchased separately*

These samplers are a perfect project for beginner sashiko artists. I find that they are also wonderful for traveling with as they are small and do not require you to pack a large amount of supplies. The marks are also easily seen (for less than perfect lighting) and will not rub off when the cloth is folded away. The design can be stitched with one 20 meter skein of sashiko thread.

These new Daruma samplers also come with an instruction sheet that is printed in both English and Japanese.

"Hana-Fukin" translates to "kitchen towel" however this sampler can also be used to create a quilt block, small coaster/placemat or 12 inch (30.5 cm) pillow.

The entire cloth measures about 27.5 long x 13.5 wide (69.9 cm long x 34.3 cm wide). The printed portion of the cloth measures 12 inch x 12 inch (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) in size. The printed portion can be seen in the 4th photo. Traditionally the cloth is folded in half and stitched through both layers. This gives the stitching a nice look and makes the cloth more absorbent.

The 100% cotton fabric is a lightweight gauze fabric with a slightly open weave.

Please refer to the photo with the Crayola brand crayons for the most accurate representation of the navy blue color. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photo for a color comparison and are not included with the listing.

There are 2 colors available. Please choose the color you would like using the pull down menu.

Do NOT iron the fabric prior to removing the pre-printed pattern or the pattern may not wash out completely.

To remove markings:
Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.

Iron while still moist on low temperature. Place sashiko cloth face down onto folded bath towel, prior to ironing, to prevent the stitching from being flattened.
