This beautiful, vintage kimono is created entirely of silk. The kimono is in excellent condition and I do not see any holes or stains. This kimono looks like it was never worn but could have been worn occasionally.
A komon is a kimono that has a small pattern covering the entire kimono.
The exterior of this kimono was created out of a crepe silk with a dyed pattern of maple leaves and branches over an blue and deep blue-black colored background. The leaves are created in red-orange, golden brown, moss green and white hues. The background is a mottled deep blue (nearly black) and blue color which reminds me of a night sky.
The light to medium weight, crepe silk has a wonderful "pebbly" texture, slight sheen and wonderful drape. It also resists wrinkles. This is not a smooth silk.
The kimono is fully lined with silk. The upper lining is a lighter weight, off-white colored silk while the lower lining is a light to medium weight, off-white colored silk with red bokashi shading.
The last two photos show the color of the kimono most accurately. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photos for color comparison. The exterior of the kimono (photo 10) and the lower lining of the kimono (photo 9) can be seen.

*Length of kimono: about 59.5 inches (151 cm)
-kimono are folded when worn to adjust the length. For the majority of women the hem of this kimono may drag on the floor unless it is adjusted. Measure from your shoulder to your ankle. The difference between this number and 59.5 inches will be the amount that needs to be folded. For example: If you measure 50 inches from your shoulders to your ankles then 9.5 inches of the kimono will be needed to be folded to adjust the length. If you measure greater than 59.5 inches from your shoulders to your ankles than this kimono will be too short for you.
*Total width of kimono with sleeves: 49.5 inches (125.7 cm)
-Stand with your arms spread out and have a friend measure from one wrist, across your shoulders and to your other wrist. This will help determine where the sleeve will fall on your wrist.
*Length of sleeves(how far the sleeves fall): 18.75 inches (47.6 cm)
*width of kimono: 51.5 inches (130.8 cm)
- measure around your hips at the widest point. Subtract this number from 51.5 inches (130.8 cm). If the difference is about 16 inches (41cm) or greater than this kimono should fit you well. If the difference is about 10 inches (25cm) this kimono should still fit you but it may not overlap as much in the front. If the difference is 10 inches (25cm) or less than this kimono will not overlap enough in the front and will not fit you correctly. Of course, you can still wear it as an open robe or use it for decoration!
I believe that the pictures show a good representation of the fabric colors however, please remember that colors may look different on your monitor. This is a vintage item so there may be small blemishes or marks others than those noted in the description. This item has been stored for many years so there may be a slight storage smell although I do not notice one. Items can be hung in the shade to remove odor. Dry cleaning is recommended.
